Yesterday, Bob was dropped off at Union Station in DC by Ashley and her cat Salem after they visited for a week. He then hopped onto the one train available for the day to Harpers Ferry, WV to restart his journey.

Today he is officially "back on trail" after a mental break and knee rehab. However, this time he is travelling SOUTH (or SOBO in trail terms).

He only has a little bit of hiking to do in WV, much of it along the VA border, so he will quickly add a second state to the done category. And I just learned that Harpers Ferry is home to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, which is a great source for all things AT. On their site they also say Harpers Ferry is the "psychological halfway point" on the trail. Here's a glimpse of this charming and historic town.

Bob spent the night at the Quality Inn in town and set off before 8 a.m. this morning. Below is a picture of the AT white blaze which is seen as one starts heading south after crossing over the Potomac River from Maryland.

While Bob was home he had the chance to rest, recharge, go to a bunch of doctor's appointments, play some video games, catch up with some friends and neighbors and see our still new house in all of it's early spring glory with pink, yellow, white and red roses, lavender and lots of other stuff waking up from a short but chilly winter. He also saw ducks and a mischievous rabbit but, sadly, no alligators yet. They are around, but not in our pond yet. As his journey continues, so will mine. I do hope to journey to our beloved state of Virginia at some point while he's there.

Stay tuned supporters. Thanks for being there!
